About the role

 

In this newly created role, you will give legal advice to the Ampol Group of Companies (the Group) in order to assist the Group to meet its commercial objectives and effectively manage legal risk associated with the Group’s business activities, and in particular in respect of the Group’s Convenience Retail business. 

 

Ampol’s Convenience Retail business directly operates a network of 645 sites to deliver its fuel and convenience shop offering, and indirectly supplies and contracts with a further ~1,200 Ampol branded but third party operated sites. 

 

 Key responsibilities:

 

  • Provide accurate and timely legal advice to the Ampol business
  • Maintain positive relationships and proactively engage with the business
  • The effective management of complaints and leading dispute resolution
  • Support commercial transactions by drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements
  • Advise the business relating to Australian laws and regulations, including competition and consumer laws and Australia’s Privacy laws and assist with dealings with regulators

 

About you:

 

You will bring a strong understanding of law and the role of an in-house legal function. You be a team player and be passionate about providing legal support to the business. As a legal professional you will have extensive attention to detail, time management and communication skills.

 

Key skills and experience:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in law with current legal practising certificate.
  • 3-5 Year post qualified experience (PQE) in practice, ideally in a top tier law firm or as a corporate lawyer for a medium-sized or large business.
  • Previous experience in advising on competition law and ACL issues, drafting/negotiating broad range of commercial agreements, and reviewing marketing material.
