About the role

 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Lead to spearhead frontline HSE management across our Energy Solutions (ES) function. This pivotal role will directly support asset deployment (EV, Battery, Solar and Hydrogen), operational activities, and maintenance across the business.

 

As the HSE Lead, you will implement the Ampol ES Group’s operational risk management systems, standards, and procedures; ensuring best practices are integrated into day-to-day activities by employees and contractors alike. Your leadership will ensure the health and safety of personnel and safeguard the environment.

 

This is a great opportunity to step up into a newly created role where you will be required to build the HSE function and Safety Management Systems, aiming to fostering a strong HSE culture among all stakeholders, ensuring consistent application of best practices.

 

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Lead the uplift of HSE capability and engagement across the business with particular focus on the First Line of Defence in Energy Solutions, including Contractor activities and workers.
  • Support Energy Solutions Leadership with respect to occupational health, safety, & environment with insights, risk data, and information that ensure plans and decisions are sound, with particular attention to critical issues raised at the risk governance level, e.g., strategic business projects, Ampol Risk Management Framework (ARMF) reviews.
  • Act as custodian of the Control and Authorisation of Work system and the Contractor management system for Energy Solutions to ensure compliance and its effective implementation.
  • Lead and support the business to establish and deliver HSE plans in line with wider Ampol Group strategy.

 

 

About you

We are looking for candidates with comprehensive knowledge of the energy landscape in Australia, able to drive plans and initiatives for self and others that ensure continual improvements on HSE.

 

The vacancy is open to applications and will be based either in Sydney, NSW or Brisbane, QLD (preferred), or Melbourne, VIC. Candidates should be willing to travel/attend to various sites all over the country and NZ when required.

 

 

Key skills and experience

 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Health and Safety, applicable Science/Engineering related discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge in HSE management.
  • Relevant industry experience in electrical, energy, asset maintenance, construction, and/or projects with an understanding of frontline operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding in workplace health & safety legislation (Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice)
  • Strong understanding of relevant management system concepts and good practice standards, e.g., ISO 31000, ISO 45001, ISO 3000
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of digital tools, platforms, and technologies relevant to the role.
  • Demonstrated capability in engaging and influencing internal leadership teams and contractors.
