About the role:

 

As Ampol accelerates its digital transformation, we are seeking an exceptional General Manager, Strategy & Architecture to play a critical role in shaping our enterprise’s future. In this strategic position, you will be responsible for developing and executing Technology, Digital, and Data (TDD) strategies that propel our organization forward, ensuring that our architectural framework aligns seamlessly with our overarching business goals.

 

In your initial phase, you will engage with key stakeholders to establish the Group Strategy & Architecture function, laying the groundwork for a robust strategic direction. Your portfolio will encompass the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge technology systems and infrastructure, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure our TDD architecture supports Ampol’s current operations and anticipates future business needs.

 

Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Tech, Digital, and Data, this role is pivotal to our success, providing the vision and leadership necessary to guide our technology landscape as we strive for innovation and efficiency. You’ll take us further by:

 

  • Drive the development and implementation of a bold strategic vision in collaboration with senior leadership, setting the stage for transformative growth and innovation across the organization.
  • Define and oversee a visionary enterprise architecture strategy that seamlessly aligns with and enhances the Group’s strategic goals, ensuring we are poised for future challenges and opportunities.
  • Design and implement architectural frameworks that prioritize scalability, flexibility, and innovation, enabling Ampol to respond swiftly to market changes and customer needs.
  • Lead dynamic strategic planning processes, formulating long-term objectives and actionable plans that align with Ampol’s ambitions and drive sustainable success.

  • Partner with business units and technology teams to ensure that architectural solutions not only support strategic priorities but also drive tangible value for the organization.
  • Establish and enforce robust governance and risk frameworks for both strategy and architecture, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Establish and nurture a high-performing architecture function within Ampol, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration that supports the organization’s strategic objectives.

 

 

We’d love it if you have:

 

  • Proven track record in strategy development and enterprise architecture at an executive level, showcasing your ability to lead organizations through complex transformations and drive strategic initiatives that deliver measurable results.
  • In-depth experience with strategic planning frameworks and architectural methodologies, such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar, allowing you to craft comprehensive strategies that align technology with business objectives and promote innovation. Experience working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to foster a data-driven culture across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams in complex and rapidly changing environments. You thrive in dynamic settings, effectively managing ambiguity while inspiring your team to achieve excellence and adapt to evolving challenges.
  • Strong strategic mindset, capable of envisioning the future landscape of technology and business, and translating that vision into actionable plans that drive the organization forward.
  • Proven ability to identify and assess market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional enterprise leadership capabilities – with a focus on developing teams that are empowered to solve problems and drive results
  • A track record of delivering results through strategic initiatives, demonstrating your ability to drive performance, achieve business objectives, and enhance overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
