About the role: 


 
The Data, Analytics & Ai team harness our data to act faster, make better decisions, serve customers better, and drive growth through improved operations and innovation. 
 
The Lead – Reporting & Insights is a hands-on leadership role, focused on establishing best practice across the Ampol Group and ensuring we get the most out of PowerBI and reporting tools. You will be leading a team of 4 and own the pipeline of reporting requests end to end. This role operates as a hands-on, lead from the front manager, with a focus on technical direction and solutioning.  

 

 

You’ll take us further by: 

 

  • Manage a team of reporting analysts to deliver new business reporting using PowerBl, tableau, or similar tools. 

  • Providing strategic direction around Ampol’s reporting & insights tech stack, including architectural considerations, pros and cons of different approaches and technology, and how technical decisions can impact commercial ROI.  

  • Collaborate with data engineering and operations teams to create standardised data assets which enable efficiency in reporting 

  • Ensure consistency in reporting metrics cascaded through leadership and operational reporting to drive business decision making and accountability, including ownership of key metrics 

  • Implement data quality frameworks as required to underpin specific reporting needs  

  • Foster and drive culture in which reporting teams and products are developed with a focus on key business questions, decisions, and insights 

  • Partner with the Platform team to maintain production reporting assets 

 

 

We’d love it if you have:  

 

  • Demonstrated experience as a people leader or as a technical SME within analytics. 

  • Experience leading Analytics outcomes end to end – including requirement gathering, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of reporting assets  

  • Hands on experience with a ranage of analytics technology, including PowerBI, SQL, and Python  

  • Experience managing and maintaining in production reporting assets, including models, data pipelines, and BI dashboards.  

  • Experience working with Data Warehouses, Snowflake or similar.
