About the role: 

 

We are establishing a new structure within our Retail Convenience Merchandise team, hence an exciting newly created opportunity for an experienced Merchandise Planner to join the team.  

 

Reporting to the Planning & Analytics Manager, the Merchandise Planner will be a key partner to the Head of Trades and Category Managers. With a key focus on sales and profit optimisation, the Merchandise Planner will leverage their analytical expertise to drive monthly forecasts, share trends, insights & reports, work on assortment planning as well as Trade Planning.

 

 

Key responsibilities: 

 

  • Be the financial and analytical expert through knowledge of current and future trends in the business/industry and be able to create innovative and efficient solutions to business opportunities and risks
  • Develop models and forecasts to support accurate financial planning and to optimise sales, profit and inventory
  • Analyse past sales data, trends, and market conditions to make recommendations on product assortment, inventory levels, and pricing
  • Collaborate cross functionally with trade, marketing, operations and supply chain teams to ensure a cohesive approach to a timely trade planning execution
  • Allocate promotional and investment buys based on trends and store sets based
  • Lead and maintain development of merchandise reporting dashboards
  • Additional reports, ad hoc projects and responsibilities as required to support the Merchandising department

 

 

About you: 

 

As a highly motivated individual and a catalyst for change, you will be the driving forces behind making the Foodary product visions available to our consumers through calculated and strategic measures. Your involvement in sales and margin forecasts, promotional performance analysis and inventory management will play a critical role in helping us become the number one retail convenience choice for our customers.

 

  • Strong understanding on retail mathematics, forecasting, pricing architecture, range planning and inventory management
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to develop reports in Power BI or willing to learn developing Power BI reports
  • Good leadership skills and able work with/lead in cross functional teams
  • Lead the development of comprehensive reports to monitor and assess the success of existing pricing strategies
  • Proven record of developing and delivering structured continuous improvement plans.
  • Demonstrate logical analytical abilities, creative problem-solving skills, and financially sound judgment to deliver conclusions and recommendations to all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and complex business environment.
  • Demonstrates personal accountability by keeping commitments. Stretches self to achieve increasingly higher levels of performance.
  • Open, honest, and models behaviours that foster an inclusive, supportive, cooperative, and trustful working environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent technical degrees not essential but will be highly regarded.
