About the role

 

In this role, you will be tasked with developing best practice solutions and providing expertise for all consumable & private label packaging within Convenience Retail. This role ensures that Ampol meets the requirements of APCO & any state-based packaging legislative requirements.

 

Working closely with our stakeholders to develop a Roadmap to meet our obligations and be the SME on packaging legislation and standards for the convenience retail business. The role ensures our suppliers adhere to our corporate standards on compliance, reports & drives actions on the status & progress of suppliers to our compliance standards and contributes to the roadmap development for changing legislation and compliance.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Develop a roadmap to achieve Ampol’s APCO commitments for the 2025 National Packaging Targets and meet Ampol’s Sustainability Strategy goals.
  • Create and maintain a current register of all packaging specifications and volumes for consumables and private label products & data entry to APCO PREP portal.
  • Identify all current and slated State Based Packaging legislation and collaborate across Merchandise and Operations to ensure key dates are met for AMPOL’s compliance.
  • Develop an action plan and provide updates regularly to ensure that Convenience Retail delivers to the compliance commitments made annually to the market.
  • Prepare annual APCO Performance Summary report and reporting for Consumer Retail & Corporate as required.
  • Complaint management and reporting including regulator and customer complaints, quality issues and investigations for improvement for packaging and food products.
  • Ensures adherence to Ampol’s Approved Supplier Program for food packaging and consumables and supports Quality Assurance with supplier compliance to this program.

 

 

About you

 

The successful candidate will have a commercial mindset with a passion for making a positive impact on the business. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with the business to understand their needs and find pragmatic solutions.  

 

 

Key skills and experience:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Packaging Technology/Engineering, Food Science / Engineering, or a related field desirable
  • 3+ years’ experience in a product specialist role – Food / Packaging desirable.
  • Proven experience in a Quality Assurance type role.
  • Packaging specifications experience for food (Private label, QSR, food or food packaging manufacturing).
  • Understanding or experience with specific legislation interpretation and compliance (e.g. packaging, environmental, food safety legislation).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and forming relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written).
