About the role

 

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer / Engineering Manager who will be responsible for providing national oversight and engineering support for the assets owned and operated by the Energy Solutions division of Ampol - primarily focused on EV, Solar and BESS / HV and LV.

 

This includes support for development and maintenance of electrical installation standards, the development of safe working practices, support for project design, implementation and commissioning, providing subject matter expertise, and support for troubleshooting and maintenance activities. 

 

Given the scale of the activity in the Australian market, this is a senior role representing the breadth of responsibility and expected leadership and decisions of the Asset Management team within our Energy Solutions division.

 

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Lead project design and commissioning of ES assets from an engineering perspective.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on all aspects of electrical design, including direction on High Voltage and Low Voltage system design, management and maintenance.

  • Review and approve all electrical system Standards at our facilities to ensure safety, compliance, reliability, quality and performance.

  • Review, assess and approve electrical designs for projects to ensure that the correct approach has been employed and that standards are effectively incorporated into design.

  • Be a focal point by providing advice on all electrical matters. Take ownership of technical issues and deliver resolutions

  • Support the development of junior electrical engineers within the team and help to improve the knowledge base of other team members on electrical engineering matters.

  • Identify areas that require ongoing preventative maintenance and develop a plan that ensures critical equipment remains fit for service.

  • Work with key stakeholders both internal and external to achieve the optimal project engineering outcomes.

  • Develop processes, systems, and standards for electrical assets.

  • Support the ES team with troubleshooting and maintenance support.

 

 

About you

We are looking for candidates with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation standards for electrical engineering, safety, risk management and risk management systems; with demonstrable project management and technical documentation skills and a strategic orientation to identify opportunities for change.

 

The vacancy is open to applications in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane and willing to travel/attend different client visits and/or conferences all over the country and NZ.

 

 

Key skills and experience

 

  • Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Experience in electrical engineering design or engineering project management.

  • Experience in developing maintenance plans and activities for electrical assets.

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and standards for electrical engineering and safety.

  • Knowledge of risk management and associated systems.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve the best outcome for the business.

  • Experience in developing technical documentation including standards.

  • Excellent communication skills and influencing skill.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
