About the role: 
 
The Senior Manager, Operations sits within the Operations & Partnering function and plays a pivotal role in enabling the delivery of Technology, Digital, and Data initiatives that align with Ampol’s strategic goals. This role partners closely with business units to identify, prioritise, and implement high-impact initiatives, while ensuring reliable operational support and continuous service improvement. In addition, the role is responsible for fostering agility, automation, and continuous improvement—while overseeing the performance, scalability, and resilience of Ampol’s infrastructure and operations.  

 

You’ll take us further by: 

  • Overseeing the performance, reliability, and scalability of technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud platforms, and end-user systems. 
  • Support the transition to a modern DevOps operating model, fostering a culture of agility, automation, and continuous improvement across infrastructure and operations. 
  • Ensuring high-quality IT service delivery aligned to business objectives, SLAs, and customer experience expectations. 
  • Leading agile operational practices to enhance responsiveness, streamline processes, and improve time to resolution across the service lifecycle. 
  • Managing the end-to-end resolution of technology incidents, including root cause analysis, problem management, and preventative action planning. 
  • Governing and approving change activities in collaboration with the change management team, ensuring compliance with both standard and expedited change protocols. 
  • Coordinating annual disaster recovery testing and championing ongoing improvements to service monitoring, alerting, reporting, configuration management, and operational readiness. 
  • Supporting Ampol’s risk, compliance, and cyber governance frameworks through active participation in audits, assessments, and mitigation planning. 

 

We’d love it if you have:  

  • Demonstrated experience leading operations teams within complex, highly dependent environments at scale 
  • Experience leading operations teams through transformation, with a strong track record of delivering scalable, reliable, and secure IT services. 
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams, managing engineering functions, external vendors, and overseeing incident and problem management processes. 
  • Solid technical knowledge of Microsoft ecosystems, networking, cloud infrastructure/ hybrid cloud environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive vendor partnerships and internal stakeholder relationships. 
  • A strong interest in IT service orchestration, with hands-on experience in automation tools, reporting frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
