About the role:
The Enterprise Technology & Software Engineering team connect and build the technology tools that help our group work smarter, faster, and more efficiently.
We achieve this by focusing on the configuration, development and continuous improvement of our Enterprise Technology platforms, our approach is seamless and iterative, prioritising agility and adaptability. By integrating modern engineering approaches and fostering a culture of constant innovation, we ensure that our core building blocks not only support current needs but also scales effortlessly for future growth.
The Site Systems Analyst is critical to the effective operation of core retail applications, with a specialised focus on in-store and outdoor payment terminals. It combines deep subject matter expertise with end-to-end ownership - prioritising and planning roadmap to working with vendors for delivery and ensuring alignment between business and technology through proactive problem-solving and hands-on support.
You’ll take us further by:
- Acting as a key enabler across business, operations, and technology teams by providing deep subject matter expertise in the design, delivery, and optimisation of payment solutions at Ampol sites.
- Serves as the technical SME, offering guidance to stakeholders while staying across application roadmaps, enhancements, and integration impacts.
- Supports project delivery through integration design input, system configuration, technical reviews, and hands-on assistance with pilots, including on-site store visits and thorough documentation for smooth support transitions.
- Ensures operational continuity by acting as the primary escalation point, managing test environments, configuring store systems, and delivering training, all in alignment with Ampol technology policies.
- Drives continuous improvement through automation, proof-of-concept initiatives, and strategic alignment with the broader Retail technology roadmap.
- Proactively manages change processes and fosters strong vendor and stakeholder relationships to support service delivery, quality, and business alignment
We’d love it if you have:
- Proven experience in POS payment systems and retail technology environments, including payment processing workflows, POS terminal hardware/software, and backend systems integration
- Working knowledge of AS2805 standards and PCI DSS compliance.
- Proven track record in supporting end-to-end project delivery, including solution design reviews, technical documentation, pilot implementations, and system configuration.
- Adept at operational support functions such as troubleshooting, incident resolution, and managing test environments, with a solid grounding in ITIL best practices, particularly in change, incident, and service management.
- Recognised for strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and a proactive, outcome-focused mindset.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives, and effectively manage competing priorities in complex, cross-functional settings.
- Willing and able to support on-site store visits, pilot rollouts, and proof-of-concept activities as required
