About the role

 

The Procurement Support Team Lead is responsible for leading the Ampol Procurement Support team in the delivery of efficient and effective process and system support, supplier management and business analysis services that meet agreed business services level requirements of the organisation’s procurement framework, business partners and external supply partners.

 

 

Key responsibilities

 

Procurement Support

  • Lead and manage the procurement support team ensuring timely and effective delivery of support activities across the Procurement lifecycle (incl Source-to-Contract, Supplier Qualification, Supplier Relationship Management, Procure-to-Pay and Expense Management) and governance framework.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize resource efficiency and reduce operating costs by simplifying, eliminating, or outsourcing low value-added or transactional support processes associated with contractor safety and expenses systems.

 

Supplier Management

  • Lead and manage the procurement support team to ensure effective delivery and execution of the Supplier Qualification and Supplier Relationship Management activities in line with relevant policies and procedures
  • Lead and manage the procurement support team to ensure effective delivery and execution of continuous monitoring and supplier due diligence throughout the supplier lifecycle
  • Support delivery of Procurement targets on ESG

 

Business Analysis

  • Support the team to execute and supervise the delivery of procurement spend analytics, supplier market research, and intelligence gathering, ensuring accurate and timely insights.
  • Identify and assess opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the procurement function through comprehensive data analysis, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Operational support and administration

  • Manage the storage and sharing of information (e.g. contracts database, SharePoint team site),
  • Prepare and issue internal and external communications as required.

 

Governance

  • Identify, escalate and seek to resolve governance risks (e.g. probity)
  • Support audit processes as required
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to ensure process compliance and increase process efficiencies across procurement processes.

 

Leadership, People and Culture

  • Leverage experience and subject matter expertise to provide strategic guidance and operational oversight to the Procurement Governance Manager in effectively managing the procurement governance framework.
  • Act as a trusted and influential advisor providing insights and recommendations on procurement support activities ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Apply change management tools and techniques to influence positive outcomes across projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the procurement function.
  • Stay abreast of developments within the procurement profession locally and abroad in relation to procurement support activities.
  • Be a role model, set expectations and direction, guide delivery of procurement activities.
  • Provide feedback, coach and mentor individuals to higher levels of performance.

 

 

Qualifications & experience

 

Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, engineering or related field or relevant experience

Procurement experience, preferably with leadership experience and in P2P, Operational or System support

Sourcing or category management role; oil and gas and/or retailing industry

 

 

Skills & Knowledge

 

Knowledge of procurement fundamentals, ERP suite, Microsoft Office suite; data analysis, market research, stakeholder management skills

Project management skills

Ability to manage ambiguity and complexity including management of change and relevant documentation.

Ability to engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders

Excellent communication, written and problem-solving skills

Willingness to take on new tasks as the company grows and evolves.
