About the role

  • Is responsible for the preparation of day-to-day tax compliance activities for Ampol Singapore/Ampol US which may include income tax, excise, GST/VAT and various other taxes.
  • Supports and contributes to the achievement of the Ampol Trading & Shipping strategies and plans by contributing to the provision of effective tax advice and participating in Group Tax projects and improvements.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Deliver taxation compliance services and analysis (including, but not limited to, the preparation and/or review of GST/VAT, income tax, excise returns and management of intercompany billings) and simple tax advice within agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop subject matter expertise in specific areas of taxation – eg, income tax, GST/VAT, excise and transfer pricing, as applicable. Assist Tax Advisor in providing ad-hoc taxation advice to Ampol Trading & Shipping business.
  • Maintain procedures and processes to ensure these comply with government regulations.
  • Identify and assist with implementation of taxation process, procedure and system improvements, arising from taxation developments (including changes in tax legislation, guidance and case law), business developments and/or business process changes.

 

Qualifications & experience

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Tax
  • Relevant CA/CPA qualifications and equivalent Tax postgraduate study
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a tax based role in a large organisation or Chartered Accounting firm
  • Familiarity with the industry is a plus

 

 

Skills & Knowledge

 

  • Familiarity with Singapore accounting and tax requirements
  • Working experience with financial information processing systems/applications (e.g. SAP).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and organised with ability to prioritize and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Familiarity with international taxation concepts is a plus
