About the role 

Reporting to the Security Lead, the Security Specialist will partner with the business to provide advice and support on Emergency Management planning, implementation and maintenance of the Security Risk Framework. The role provides expertise and guidance to support the high standards in security at Ampol and the Loss Prevention Strategy.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Identify security risks, issues and gaps to develop and implement solutions to proactively and systematically address organisation wide security needs within Retail. 

  • Establish and maintain an effective network on security issues across company departments and externally (particularly with Government departments, agencies, Police and Legal). 

  • Advise and coach key stakeholders on the implementation of the security risk management processes and controls. 

  • Maintain effective reporting of security & Loss Prevention related performance data. 

  

About you 

You will be a subject matter expert, playing a critical role in partnering with the retail business around all personal and retail security issues, whilst also role modelling expected behaviours within the team and organisation. You will have the capability to engage and build strong internal and external stakeholder partnerships to achieve all Security outcomes. You will have the ability to work in highly ambiguous situations and ensure the strategy around Security within operations is effectively managed and delivered, liaise, coach, influence, drive change and facilitate purposeful conversations with various stakeholders whilst holding accountability in the role is a must. 

  

Key skills and experience 

 

  • Experience in the security risk management of personnel and assets. 

  • A sound knowledge of security management practices, standards and systems. 

  • Practical experience of auditing management systems. 

  • Experienced in providing advice and coaching to senior line managers. 

  • Able to develop processes and systems to address emerging security risks. 

  • Practical experience in retail operations or management would be advantageous. 

  • Ability to work with own and cross functional teams. 

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams skills required. 

  • Cert 4 in Security Risk Management or related discipline. 

  • Relevant academic qualifications at tertiary level in Security / WHS / Risk related disciplines. 

  • Ability to travel away from home for short business trips as required and drivers’ license and vehicle.
