About the role:

 

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead and manage our Process Development Engineering team, focusing on medium to long-term refinery enhancements.

 

In this role, you'll be responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities to optimize refinery operations through stewardship of the of the gross margin improvement program, management of the 5-year capital plan and deployment of process engineering design resources supporting of capital project delivery.

 

  

Key responsibilities: 

 

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a long-term strategy for the Lytton operation, focusing on a five and ten-year horizon by owning the process design deliverables for all stages of capital projects through the presentation of business cases, ensuring top-notch execution and resource allocation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead the delivery of the refinery’s Continuous Improvement program, driving gross margin improvement initiatives.
  • Safety & Performance: Enhance safety and business outcomes through active leadership in the field, while setting and monitoring high performance standards.
  • Catalyst & Chemical Management: Oversee catalyst and chemical changes to boost refinery performance and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Address complex refinery operability issues requiring deep technical knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Standards Maintenance: Ensure all process engineering, process design, and PSI (Process Safety Information) standards are upheld.
  • Refining Yield Optimization: Manage yield accounting while stewarding initiatives to continuously improve refining efficiency.
  • Emergency Management: Serve as a designated member of the Emergency Management Team, contributing to crisis response.
  • Process Engineering Support: Provide expertise for structural changes to LP sub-models, enhancing operational planning and optimization.

 

 

Key skills and experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), Chartered engineer with relevant institution (eg. Engineers Australia or IChemE).
  • Experience in process design, process safety and risk mitigation with specific exposure to Oil Refining or Petrochemical Industries
  • Process engineering experience with majority of years spent in refinery areas (including Hydrotreating, Distillation, Catalytic Cracking, Reforming, Alkylation, Polymerisation, Isomerisation, heavy residue processing, tank farm operations, utilities and wastewater treatment) is desirable
  • Project engineering / managing; knowledge of management of change processes and an approved advanced risk assessment facilitator (i.e. HAZOP leader).
