About the role:
Exciting Leadership Opportunity at Lytton Refinery – Operations (Area) Superintendent
We’re looking for a driven Operations (Area) Superintendent to lead a critical asset area within our refinery. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations while leading a team of Coordinators and working closely with shift teams to improve systems and performance.
This hands-on leadership role offers the chance to make a real impact on one of our core operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- As Operations Superintendent at our Lytton Refinery, you will play a pivotal role in leading operational excellence and driving performance.
- Provide visible leadership to implement safety, health, risk, environment, quality, and community systems, ensuring a strong safety culture and compliance.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Supply, Process Engineering, and other refinery teams to improve operational efficiency and support projects.
- Lead a team to develop and deliver asset strategies, oversee capital programs, and maintain effective systems to achieve daily targets.
- Review and approve plant and equipment modifications, manage risks through hazard analyses and prevention systems, and lead audit actions.
- Support program planning, monitor project progress, and document key processes and improvements to ensure plant reliability.
About You:
You bring a strong operational background and deep understanding of refinery processes, with a focus on continuous improvement. Known for your critical thinking and structured approach, you drive lasting improvements by tackling root causes.
Organised and adaptable, you manage competing priorities while keeping safety, reliability, and performance front of mind. Your collaborative style and leadership make you a key contributor to cross-functional teams and initiatives.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Proven capability in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or other major hazard facility environments, with deep knowledge of refinery operations and a strong focus on performance improvement.
- Skilled in leading and motivating operational teams with a disciplined, solution-focused approach to managing challenges.
- Strong commercial awareness, with a solid understanding of refinery economics, budgeting, and risk management principles.
- Demonstrates analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and a proactive mindset, with exposure to Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Well-versed in WHS legislation, emergency response, and safe work practices, with a strong commitment to maintaining safety in high-risk settings.
