About the role:

We are looking for a Category Assistant to join our Merchandise team. The role is responsible for supporting categories within the Retail Services portfolio with some project work in the Tobacco area. This role has a direct impact on the success and profitability of the company. The role will be actively involved in all areas of buying, marketing, operations, finance, IT - this will lead to substantial interaction with other team members at all levels plus contact with external customers and suppliers. You will be engaging with suppliers, managing relationships and category lines. The role requires a self-starter to maintain current processes within the portfolio as well as looking for ways to streamline process. There is also the need to look at new opportunities for Ampol to leverage its existing estate and keep pace with the changing needs of customers both online and in the traditional bricks and mortar channel.

 

We are based at Sydney CBD, but we will be undertaking a move to Alexandria mid-2021, flexible work from home options are on offer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all updates and promotions are live on planned dates.
  • Collaborate on and execute assortment and distribution plan to meet category goals (incl NPD) working with the relevant CM in Merchandising
  • Foster engagement and the build a relationship with retail operations
  • Collaborate with Operations Support Team on rollouts and service campaigns.
  • Demonstrating clear communication, influencing and relationship building with an ability to partner with the business to drive key commercial outcomes. 
  • Efficiently prioritising workload and managing the varying demands of seasonal merchandise.

 

About you:

You are reliable, enthusiastic and highly motivated; we are looking for a team player who is excited to learn about different aspects of the business as we develop and expand your career opportunities. To be successful in this role you will have experience in a customer focused environment with experience operating in a commercial and retail merchandising role highly regarded. You have advanced knowledge of Microsoft excel and a high level of computer literacy. Through attention to detail and challenging yourself to think differently you are able to solve complex issues and remain outcome focussed.
